Meet the one and only Original Iberian Chestnut Jamón producer in the Genal Valley
This experience lasts between 5 and 6 hours. A more exact duration is very difficult to give as it depends on many circumstances. The trip starts at our TopBuggy base with some challenging tracks and of course breathtaking views. Through tracks paths and narrow roads we reach and pass through the Blue Village of Júzcar, to continuing to Faraján, where we will be received by Juan Carlos Torres and Inmaculada Torres. They will guide us to visit the farm where the authentic Iberian pig lives free out in the countryside complete and is fattened with 100% natural food as Acorn and of course Chestnuts. Juan Carlos teaches and explains us curiosities about the breeding and life of these pigs, and is always open to answer any questions or doubts you may have.
Again we get back in the buggies and follow him to a second farm with the “mothers” and the Iberian pig males. Not only will you get to see them from closeby... you will even be able to hold and pet the piglets.
Later on we visit the "Secadero" (ham drying/curing room), where Juan Carlos shows and explains you in full detail the ham-curing process from beginning to end, ending with a tasting of their own, natural products.
The tasting includes Jamón Ibérico, Chorizo and Salchichón sausages and other cured parts (depending on availability), in more than sufficient quantities according to the demand of our group that is formed exclusively by us.
In the same cozy tasting room, we sit down and relax to move on to lunch at the hands of Inmaculada, which includes different types of 100% Iberian grilled meats from their own pigs, ending with a homemade dessert as well as coffee or tea. Drinks like soft drinks, wine, beer and water are all included.
This buggy experience is somewhat subject to weather conditions and unfortunately has to be cancelled if there is a serious rain forecast.
